Christmas mix

Around this house, we don’t believe in a shortage of sugary Christmas treats. And when I say “around this house,” I literally mean, in every corner, on every table top there is a candy dish, bag of bread, jar of cookies, or bowl of mix just inviting you to taste. It is a dangerous place to be if you have a sweet tooth. Actually, a few years ago, my Grandmama lived with us and her stay fell during the Christmas holidays. She would wheel around in her wheelchair snacking from one goody to the next. Eventually I had to collect everything and put them out of reach because it was all she would eat!

This Christmas mix was no exception (nor is it for anyone…it’s kind of addicting. In a warm, Christmasy-addiction way). I’ve heard it called lots of other things, like white trash or dirty Santa mix. It’s so easy, but sooo good.Star off with a big bowl-the biggest you have. Or a bucket. We use Chex mix (corn and rice), pretzels, M&Ms, cheerios, and peanuts. Mix it all together. Then melt blocks of white chocolate until it is pure liquid. Pour over the cereal and mix, mix, mix. At some point, I advise just abandoning the spoon and digging in with your hands. Much easier, and much more fun.

It’s also yummy with raisins or craisins, but no less unstoppable to eat. Check out our centerpiece decoration. A Christmas tree my mom made that has lots of little clear balls with different names of Jesus on them. And lots of other shiny stuff. Yes, we are that family that has a Christmas tree in almost every room (although only 1 big one, all the others are small like this).
