As much as I love to cook and bake (and eat!) I also love to read. According to my mother, I taught myself how to read, and I’ve been going at it ever since! I was an English major where all I did was read and write and analyze.

So tonight, I went to a poetry slam. Except it was not what I was expecting and so we left and ended up in the amazing-ness that is the Dickson Street Bookshop. And so instead of a evening of free entertainment, I bought a couple books on the huge amount of store credit I have from selling books. I don’t normally pose for photos like this…but I’m obviously in my element, surrounded by books. If I could have a library in my house one day, I will consider my life successful.

Apparently my ramblings about my experience with poetry slams was too incoherent to properly set your expectations. There’s a reason I’ve only been to one.

fine, I obviously should have listened. It was definitely not what I was expecting. It was more like a poetry reading. Maybe we got there too late and missed the slam part of it?

Oh Alyssa, I think you’re far too multidimensional to be fulfilled by the simple act of owning a lot of books. 🙂 You’re going to need a kitchen, a garden, and a writing nook to complete that future house of yours!
